QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN HIRING AN OUTDOOR CINEMA COMPANY
DO YOU CARRY INSURANCE FOR YOUR OUTDOOR CINEMA SERVICES?
Southern Outdoor Cinema carries a one million dollar
commercial liability policy which is specific for outdoor cinema
productions.
HOW DO WE OBTAIN A MOVIE LICENSE?
We can assist you with the paperwork to obtain a non-theatrical license. Movie licensing is done through
Criterion and
Swank.
BEWARE of vendors that claim the license is included in the their price. They may not be obtaining the license and pocketing the license fee.
The end-user is responsible for the license and the end-user will
be fined if a license is not obtained.
DO WE NEED TO PROVIDE VOLUNTEERS TO HELP SETUP THE SYSTEM?
Southern Outdoor Cinema is a full service outdoor cinema
company. Providing your own volunteers to help in setup is an
insurance risk. - You may be held responsible if one of your
volunteers is injured or if their actions cause injury to others
or damage to property.
WHAT TYPE OF BRAND OF SCREENS ARE YOU USING?
Free standing aluminum screens and inexpensive screens are not
designed for commercial use and can fall over easily or look
unattractive.
Our AIRSCREEN outdoor inflatable movie screens are made for
outdoors and are the industry leader of inflatable movie screens
available on the market. The screen surface on AIRSCREEN systems
have theatrical quality screen surfaces. AIRSCREENS also sit 6
feet off of the ground, which provides a better viewing for your
audience.
WHAT IS THE WIND RATING ON YOUR SCREENS?
There are numerous inflatable movie screens on the market. Most only have a wind rating of up to 10 mph.
Our AIRSCREENS, however are rated for 26 MPH
winds and can withstand gusts up to 45 mph. Wind ratings are
important especially in locations that are near lakes or beaches.
Wind ratings and stability of screens are also important for the safety of your audience.
DOES THE SURFACE OR VIEWABLE PART OF THE SCREEN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE PICTURE QUALITY?
Most inflatable screen manufactures do not have tight viewable
surfaces (wrinkled) or DO NOT have theatrical surfaces. Transparent or rear-projection screens can cause the movie to look distorted if there is any wind. Rear-projection screen surfaces produce a duller picture because
up to 50% of projection light can get lost projecting through the screen.
AIRSCREENS have the same projection surface as the screens in movie theaters, which produces a bright, crisp movie image. - The way Hollywood intended their films to be seen! AIRSCREENS have a tight projection surface and a wind shield on the back of the screen.
WHAT TYPE OF SOUND AND PROJECTION DO YOU USE?
Many providers of outdoor movie events claim to have state of the art equipment, but when was the equipment state of the art?
Many providers use both sound and projection systems that are
underpowered (sometimes they use equipment that is meant for
indoor events).
Lumens, or brightness, of a projector is an
important aspect of having a bright, crisp picture, but it is not
the only factor. It is equally as important to
understand what the surface material being projected upon
is. A third aspect to a bright picture is how well
maintained the projector is. A projector that has many hours
of use will have a duller bulb.
Southern Outdoor Cinema maintains a high safety,
maintenance and operational standard. Contact
us to learn more about our practices and our equipment
used. We would be happy to assist you.
HOW
DO YOU MEASURE YOUR SCREEN SIZE?
There are many ways to measure a screen's size. There is the
foot print or frame of the screen and the actual viewable
area. Southern Outdoor Cinema measures our
screens on the footprint's diagonal.
CAN YOU PROVIDE REFERENCES AND PICTURES OF YOUR EQUIPMENT?
Southern Outdoor Cinema can provide references from
our three most recent events as well as pictures of
our screen systems. Pictures on our website are taken
at actual events we worked, so there are no suprises when we
arrive at your event with our equipment.
